Privacy Policy

Last updated 18 October 2026

The Guest Register helps hosts plan events and invite guests. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have. We never sell personal data.

1. Who we are

The Guest Register (theguestregister.com) is the data controller for host accounts. For guest information added to an event, the host decides what is collected and we process it on the host's behalf.

2. Information we collect

  • Host accounts: name, email address, sign-in details and event settings.
  • Event content: event details, schedule, wishlist, seating, budget and invitation design.
  • Guest information: names, email addresses, RSVP answers, plus-ones, dietary notes, transport and accommodation choices, messages and photos shared with the host.
  • Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive payment status, never full card details.
  • Technical data: device, browser and approximate country, used for security, currency and statistics.

3. How we use it

  • To run your event: invitations, personal guest links, RSVPs and confirmations.
  • To send emails you request, such as invitations and RSVP confirmations.
  • To process payments and provide receipts.
  • To keep the service secure and improve it.
  • With your consent only: to measure our advertising (for example Meta and Google) so we can see which ads bring visitors.

4. Who we share it with

Trusted providers that help us operate: secure hosting and storage, email delivery, Stripe for payments, and — only where you have accepted — Meta and Google for advertising measurement. Guest information is visible to the event's host. We do not sell or rent personal data.

5. Cookies and advertising

We use essential storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as currency. Advertising cookies are used only if you agree, and you can change your choice at any time.

6. How long we keep it

Event data is kept while the host's account is active. Hosts can delete events and their account in Settings, which removes the related guest information. Payment records are kept as long as accounting law requires.

7. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, or object to its use. Guests may contact the host or us directly. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in Norway: Datatilsynet).

8. Changes

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be shown on this page.
